A Team Final: North 28 – Grapevine 14

The North Cougars A Team continued their undefeated run with a commanding 28–14 victory over the Grapevine Ponies, fueled by explosive plays on both sides of the ball.
Hector Martinez set the tone early, bulldozing into the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown run on the opening drive. Benjamin Peiffer nailed the PAT to give North an early 8–0 lead. The defense immediately followed with a statement stop — Crosby Grizzle broke through the line for a clutch fourth-down sack, shutting down Grapevine’s momentum.
Moments later, Kael Burgin swung the momentum even further with a highlight-reel interception, setting up another scoring opportunity. Quarterback play and precision passing paid off as Shane Tetteh hauled in a spectacular 20-yard touchdown reception to extend the lead. Grizzle wasn’t done — he pounced on a loose ball before the end of the first quarter to give the Cougars another possession.

The offense stayed hot in the second quarter, capping off a sustained drive with another powerful 4-yard touchdown run. Martinez sealed the victory late in the fourth with his second score of the night, pounding it in from four yards out to close the door on Grapevine.

With the win, the A Team improves to 2–0 and looks every bit the team to beat this season.

B Team Final: North 39 – Grapevine 13

The Cougars B Team delivered a statement win of their own, exploding for 39 points in a dominant performance against the Ponies.

The tone was set from the very first series — Christopher Sanchez picked off a pass to swing early momentum in North’s favor. Moments later, Christopher Angel broke free for a 22-yard touchdown run to get the scoring started. The Cougars wasted no time adding to the lead as Gavin Fischer hauled in a spectacular 50-yard touchdown pass on the next drive.

The fireworks kept coming. Miguel Lopez-Vergara dashed 25 yards for another touchdown, and Max Hentschel powered his way in for a 4-yard score to close out a monster first quarter.

North’s offense showed no signs of slowing down in the second quarter. Lopez-Vergara ripped off a 51-yard touchdown run, and Samuel Macaluso turned defense into offense with a 30-yard fumble return. The dynamic duo of Lopez-Vergara and Fischer connected again for a 15-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful two-point conversion by Hentschel.

The exclamation point came in the fourth quarter when Lopez-Vergara broke free once more — this time for a 55-yard touchdown sprint — before Marcus Nixon sealed the victory with an interception and 15-yard return.

With another dominant showing, the B Team also advances to 2–0, proving they’re a force to be reckoned with this season.
