Coppell Middle School North hosted its home cross country meet this week, and all four Cougar teams showed heart, determination, and teamwork on their home course. The 8th grade girls and 8th grade boys both earned 2nd place overall, while the 7th grade girls took 3rd, and the 7th grade boys finished a strong 4th.
The 8th grade girls delivered another outstanding performance, led by Angie Nguyen, who placed 2nd overall with a time of 13:12.10. Kate McGrath followed close behind in 5th (13:41.15), with Mirabelle Sagel in 8th (13:56.01). Mila Obidzinski finished 11th (14:16.79), and Brylee Felix rounded out the scoring in 15th (14:55.17) to lock in the team’s 2nd-place finish.
The 8th grade boys matched that success with a deep and balanced team effort. Vihaan Sapkota led the pack, finishing 7th overall (12:28.43), followed by Mason Hotle in 9th (12:31.81). Austin Shelby crossed in 11th (12:39.84), with Paxton Nomura in 12th (12:44.63) and Jaithra Nettem close behind in 13th (12:46.90) — an impressive, tightly packed finish that showcased the Cougars’ strength.
The 7th grade girls had a fantastic showing, finishing 3rd overall as a team. Madeline Koehler dominated the field, finishing 1st overall with a time of 12:57.22. Karissa Hansen came in 6th (14:11.86), followed by Samvrita Sunil in 12th (15:12.60). Sherry Silverman and Ellie Zonozy rounded out the top five, finishing 16th (15:41.33) and 19th (15:49.68) respectively.
The 7th grade boys capped off the day with a solid 4th-place team finish. Caleb Rose led the charge with an impressive 2nd-place finish (11:50.66), followed by Preston Boucher in 5th (12:11.86). Vivaan Naria came in 23rd (14:16.39), Ashmit Adhikari placed 28th (14:35.01), and Owen Cooper finished 32nd (15:03.39) to complete the scoring.
It was an incredible day for North Cross Country — every team showed Cougar pride, resilience, and unity in front of the home crowd.
