Tuesday night the 8th grade Cougar football team traveled to Keller MS for 3 games against the Comanches. In the C game Keller jumped out to a quick 0-6 lead. But the North defense, led by Luis Mendez Gil and Eric Olvera kept the Cougars within striking distance. In the 3rd quarter AJ Gonzales found Layton McCown on a short pass and from there McCown did the rest, breaking several tackles on a 50 TD run, to tie the score at 6-6. And that would prove to be the final score of the game as the Cougars ended up tying Keller 6-6.
In the B game Keller scored twice before halftime and twice after the half to take a 0-24 victory. The Cougars, led by Jude Nickell, Jaxon Lowe, and Miles Fain, played hard but couldn't find the end zone despite several promising drives.
In the A game the Comanches took the opening kickoff and drove the field using most of the first quarter to take a 0-8 lead. But the Cougars fought hard and played with great effort and only trailed 0-14 at half. North was lead by Scott Fishpaw, O'Marion Mbakwe, and Titus Roberson and mounted several good drives but just couldn't push a score across the goal line and dropped a 0-20 contest.
All teams will play their first home game on Tuesday against Hillwood starting at 5.
