NORTH VS VISTA RIDGE

North vs Vista Ridge

GARRETT BARLEY

North Coaches | 9/9/2022

Your North Cougars were eager and ready to get back to work and defend their home court. Unfortunately, there were no C team games this week so first up were the B teams. The ladies found themselves in a back-and-forth first set before Catherine Conger came up to serve with 8 straight points and sealed the victory for the first set. Emy Reyes was first to serve in the second set and got North to an 11-1 start and your ladies never looked back. North was able to seal its first victory of the season. Players of the game go to both Catherine Conger and Emy Reyes.
The A teams were up next and did not want to be outdone by their counterparts. However, they quickly realized that Vista Ridge was ready to play. Sawyer Frosk helped changed the tides with her great serving and leading her team to a North victory in two straight sets. Sawyer Frosk and Riley Koski-Barger were you players of the game. Riley had a great defensive game with some amazing digs and all-around great passing!

The 7th grade A and B teams were prepared for their second game of the season at Vista Ridge. The 7th grade also did not have a C team, so the B team was ready to start the matches that evening. In the first set, your Cougars won 25-8 with Lacey Jones starting the game with a 5-point serving streak. The girls were pumped up and confident to continue! In the next set, your cougars won 25-12! Lilija Bowen grew the excitement in the gym with her 10-point serving streak! The player of the game this week is Lacey Jones with her incredible serves and front-row attacks! She was confident and encouraging to her teammates. The B team won their first game, and are excited to defend their home court next week.

Next up, the A team started strong and won their first match 25-5! The girls were excited to see their hard work pay off. Vista Ridge came to play in the second match, but your north courage took the victory 29-27! It was a great game- with lots of nerves and excitement. The A team player of the game was Avery James with her incredible serves and hard work on the court. She pushed her team towards victory! We will see you next week- at home!
