On Monday evening, the North 7th grade boys basketball team hosted the Panthers of Vista Ridge Middle School. And even though the opponent was new, the Cougars were still riding high from last week's opening sweep and didn't disappoint in Week 2.

Jumping out to a blazing start, North's C team took control immediately and raced out to a big lead with strong defense and quick-hitting baskets in transition. Ridham Babel again led the Cougars with 12 points on the night; but was joined by Ethan Khera (7 points) and Ryan Maki (7 points) as well. Not to be outdone, Miguel Lopez Dos Santos added 8 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds in his first action of the season! After taking a 30-4 lead into the half, North held on to earn the solid 40-9 victory over the Panthers.

In the second game, B team also seemed to rinse and repeat their Week 1 win. Brayden Vaughn didn't wait to drop the ball in the bucket, and continued to do so over and over again as he led North with 17 points. And to support the cause, both Isaac VanKirk and Mateo De La Hoya added 7 rebounds apiece to pace the Cougars. With a solid team effort, the B team cruised home with a 39-14 win to stay undefeated on the season.

And again, A team took the court with an opportunity to sweep Vista Ridge on the night. The Panthers gave it their all, and kept the game close through the first quarter. But the Cougars got it rolling in the second quarter to take command up 35-13 at the half. Jacob Anene was hot from the start and led the team with 17 points; supported by 8 points from Daylon Montgomery and 7 points from Jack Schnell who also led the team with 6 rebounds. The second half played out fairly evenly on both sides, but North was able to keep control to wrap up the night with a 46-25 victory to finish off the 3 game sweep!
