As the season keeps rolling along, the 7th grade boys basketball team from North took another road trip toward the West to take on the Panthers of Fossil Hill Middle School on Monday night. Hoping to keep their undefeated record alive, the Cougars arrived ready for fun!
In the C game, North overcame a bit of weariness from the long bus ride to jump on top of the Panthers. Lennox Gillam led the team in both points (9) and steals (7) to help pace the Cougars, but was joined by his backcourt mate, Ethan Khera with 6 points. Down low, Miguel Lopez Dos Santos dominated the boards with 14 while also adding 6 points and 5 steals and Ethan Kim added 7 points as well. When the final horn sounded, North walked away with a 35-9 win to set the tone for the night.
As the B teams tipped off, the Cougars didn't wait to jump ahead. Balanced scoring for North was the story with Ridham Babel leading the way with 7, followed by 6 each for Brayden Vaughn, Chase Augenthaler, and Isaac VanKirk, 5 for Bennett Head, and 4 for Ethan Walther. Babel also dominated inside with 11 rebounds while Vaughn cleaned up a team leading 6 steals. North led the whole way to finish with a convincing 40-22 victory.
For the nightcap, A team once again took the court looking to finish a Cougar sweep over the Panthers. Jacob Anene led the way, dropping in 12 points in the first quarter to kick start the Cougars effort; finishing with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Balanced contributions from the rest of the team kept North in control throughout the contest. And in what is becoming an exciting routine, A team's 48-24 win sealed a 4th sweep in a row to start this season.
Looking ahead, the Cougars will face off with one of their crosstown rivals for the first time next week when they host CMS West as they hit the halfway mark of the season and head into the holiday break. Come on out and support your North Cougars!
