8th grade C-
The North Cougars had their first district game last night against Heritage. Our 8th grade C team battled in 3 sets but came short in sets 2 and 3 (25-21,22-25,8-15). The girls fought hard and continued to show improvement this week. Brennen Ford was on fire at the net and aces in the first set. Maddy Wilson stepped up at a crucial point in the 2nd set with several great passes. The defensive play and serve receive of Yena Chae kept our offensive game strong. Her passing, hustle, and a strong mental game is what she contributed to our team last night, earning her Player of the Week.

8th grade B-
Our 8th grade B came out with a strong win in the first set (25-21). Eraina Wilkins showed more aggressive play at the net and made smart decisions to help us side-out. Averie Gonzales had a solid serving game with 5 aces, and finished out the second set (25-22). Narmin Azim didn’t miss a beat in the back row. She was focused, consistent, and led the team in digs and serve receive. Narmin also had 3 serve aces. She earned Player of the Game this week!

8th grade A-
The 8th grade A team finished the evening with a match win in the third set. Emma Hurst and Zoey Ponsen served aggressively on the end line, contributing a combined 13 points to the overall first set score, 25-21 While the Cougars led the second set 23-15, they struggled in serve receive and gave up points in errors leading to a 24-26 Heritage win. Entering the third and final set, the Cougars knew that they had to come out strong and they did just that. North held the lead for the entire game and broke away in the end winning the match point and overall set score 15-11. Shoutout to Bella Marvin and Addison Hamm for stepping up and filling a new position in the line-up due to a roster injury during warm-up. Emry Holder set the tone in the first set with a killer block on Heritage’s outside hitter. Morgan Proctor, libero for the A team, earned her red jersey last night with consistent back row play.
