On Wednesday, September 27th, the North Cougars made their season debut at the CMS West Invitational Cross Country meet. Racing on a new course around Andy Brown West Park in Coppell, everyone was excited to see what this new season holds.

North's 8th grade ladies were the first to take the course and they set the pace for everyone else to follow. As a team, they took first place in both the A and B divisions over the other competitors from CMS West, Grapevine MS, and Colleyville MS. Leading runners for the A team were Morgan Proctor (3rd overall) and Addison Hamm (7th) along with Delanee Mullen (1st) and Rin Kikuchi (3rd) pacing the B team. What a fantastic start to the season!

North's 7th grade ladies followed suit, also taking first place by comfortable margins in both the A and B divisions. Jaehee Lee, Laurel Storey, and Finleigh Sanders-Burk swept the finish going 1-2-3 in the A race; followed closely by Taylor Meschner and Tarusi Aphale finishing 1-2 in the B race.

Unfortunately, North's boys teams did not match the team success of the ladies in this first meet, but there were still some outstanding efforts all around. In the 8th grade races, Raaghav Muralidaran (7th in A) and Colin McGrath (1st in B) led the charge. And in the final race of the night, Subaru Tokita (10th overall in A) and others along with Siddhant Rawat (9th in B) and Dylan Alonso (10th) led the way around the course.

In the end, the excitement of the season was worth the wait. Next week, the North XC program will travel to take on Grapevine and Heritage middle schools as their next challenge on Wednesday, October 4th.
