8th vs Cross Timber:
C Team had a great night against the Lady Wolves. They battled 2 close sets and finished each set with a win 25-16, 26-24. They were challenged with a new line up and it didn’t slow them down one bit. Shreya Shah was a leader on the team. Her serving was a turning point that got us back in the game with 6 straight serves. Caroline Ortuzar was a consistent player that played all the way around, and helped us secure the win! Parker Storey earned Player of the Game this week. She was in a new role as our libero. The serves, passing, and defense she brought to this game were instrumental. The coaches were so excited to see her hard work and improvements pay off.

Our B team played well in a new line up as well but fell short in the 3rd set 21-25, 25-20, 13-15. The effort and teamwork was such an improvement from last week. Fabi Figueroa stepped up her passing game averaging at least 10 great passes in the 3 sets we played. Rachel Howe moved up to B team this and didn’t miss a beat in the back row. She was consistent in passing, serving, and hit 2 backrow attacks in a crucial point of the game. Eraina Wilkins had 5 serves and was more aggressive at the net than ever with 3 big kills. Our Player of the games goes to Avery James. She served us to our winning set with 7 straight serves. She has 5 kills, and adjusted well to the setter position for the first time this year.

A team encountered their first loss in District play moving their overall record to 3-1 after Thursday’s match (15-25, 14-25). Shout-out to Morgan Proctor for her consistent serves from the endline, Emma Hurst for her smart net play on offense, paired with her defensive blocks, and Averie Gonzalez for staying calm and consistent in serve receive, as well as aggressive swinging on the right side. Faith Law is awarded player of the game. She stepped up as a 6 rotation player setting and hitting right side through both sets. She added 8 points to the board with her powerful serves and gave full hustle and effort through each rally.

The Cougars will have a bye on October 5th and resume District play on October 12th as they hit the road and match-up against Grapevine Middle School.
