On Wednesday evening, the North Cougars hosted the Coppell North CC Invitational cross country meet at Andy Brown Park West. As the host, North looked to continue their season-long improvement while facing CMS East, Cross Timbers MS, and Colleyville Heritage MS. It was a beautiful afternoon for running and all 4 teams had plenty of spectators on hand to cheer them on.

In the first race of the event, the 8th grade Lady Cougars continue to exert their dominance over the 4 team field; finishing in 1st place yet again. Leading the way, and staying undefeated on the season, was Morgan Proctor in first place. North also saw Addison Hamm (3rd) and Delanee Mullen (4th) finish in the Top 5. And in the B division, Carolina Saenz took 1st place as well to bring home the victory.

The 8th grade boys race heard the starting horn next- and provided some impressive performances. For North, Raaghav Muralidaran led the Cougars with a 6th place finish overall. He was also joined in the Top 10 by Ridham Babel (9th) who was running his first race in the A division; helping North take 3rd in the team standings. Along with these strong results, Max Godinez also turned on the jets and finished in 1st place in the B race showing solid improvement as the season continues.

As the shadows grew a bit longer, it was time to begin the 7th grade races... ladies first. North was led by Top 5 finishers Jaehee Lee (2nd overall), Laurel Storey (3rd), and Finleigh Sanders-Burk (4th) to finish just behind the Cross Timbers squad who took first place in the team standings. The Lady Cougars will be looking to even the score in 2 weeks at the final Meet of Champions!

And in the final race of the night, the North Cougars knew they were going to be pushed by their crosstown rivals- the Broncos of CMS East. And it was quite the showdown as East edged North despite the Cougars placing 5 runners inside the Top 11; including Subaru Tokita (5th), Tomas Morales (9th), and Emiliano Noyola-Garcia in 11th.

Up next, all 3 Coppell Middle Schools will battle it out at the Zone Meet next Wednesday, October 25th. It will be a thrilling event for all 3 teams, so come out and cheer them on. As always, the first race begins at 5:00.
