On Wednesday afternoon, teams from CMS North, CMS East, Cross Timbers MS, and Heritage MS all converged at Andy Brown West Park to run in the North CC Invitational Meet. And while the weather is still warm, the racing action was quite HOT as these teams battled it out!

The North boys 8th grade roster was looking to find their groove in this third meet. And as has been the habit, Vihaan Sahni led the Cougars right from the start and paced the race. As he battled it out all around, Vihaan found a rival who edged him out as he finished in second place overall. Vihaan Sharma (8th), Ryan Snelling (12th), Tomas Morales (17th), Mateo Jallu (20th), and Emiliano Noyola Garcia (21st) boosted North as well. When the final tally was calculated, the Cougars finished in third place with goals to improve over the final stretch of the season.

The Cougar 7th grade boys also were looking to find a way to bring home their first meet championship of the season as they toed the starting line. Oscar Martin took off like a rocket and never looked back as he won the individual honors finishing in first place! Adding to the cause included: Austin Shelby (6th), Taichi Oyama (7th), Jaithra Nettem (11th), and Graham Burgess (12th). But the North finish was a familiar one; once again just missing out and earning a runner up finish. Each event has been so tantalizing close, and all of the Cougar runners are hoping to break through at the upcoming Zone and District meets.

Saving the best for last, both of North's ladies teams once again had championship aspirations... and did not disappoint. The 7th grade runners were led by Angie Nguyen- 3rd and Milleena Garcia- 4th, but also had help from Nadia Stanback- 6th, Mirabelle Segal- 8th, Jennifer Lee- 10th, and Brylee Felix in 11th. With such a solid grouping at the front of the pack, it was no wonder that the Lady Cougars brought home their second straight meet championship!

And in what would be a boring story if it wasn't always exciting, the 8th grade Cougars also cruised to another championship; remaining undefeated on the season and staying confident headed into the Zone and District meets. Always a force at the front, Jaehee Lee didn't look back as she led the parade to the finish to win the individual championship honors. And adding to their lead, North also saw impressive races from Finleigh Sanders-Burk in 3rd, Laurel Storey in 4th, Sophia Sarmiento in 7th, and Aneesha Anand in 15th to round our the scoring. But looking ahead, the Cougars will be looking over their shoulders at their crosstown rivals from East who finished just 3 points back... which will lead to some exciting racing at the Zone Meet in 2 weeks!
