North vs Colleyville
8th A Team
This week brought a quick turnaround with a Monday night showdown against the Colleyville Colts, and wasted no time making a statement. We From the opening tip, North was on fire, playing with relentless energy, elite hustle, and unmatched skill to secure an emphatic 63–31 victory.
Brylee Felix set the tone early, catching fire in the first quarter with two deep three-pointers that electrified the crowd. She stayed hot and added another triple in the second half, helping fuel an offense that kept the Colts on their heels all night long. Every possession was a threat as North moved the ball with confidence and attacked with purpose. She also had 7 steals.
In an effort to slow the momentum, Colleyville shifted into a 2–3 zone defense — but it made little difference. Annabelle Ross dominated every level of the game, pouring in 24 points while completely controlling the boards with a game-high 22 rebounds. Her presence in the paint and relentless effort set the standard on both ends of the floor.
Holiday Lora delivered another standout performance, finishing with 14 points,6 steals and serving as a steady, reliable force throughout the game. Her defensive intensity and court awareness made a huge impact, helping shut down the Colts and keep North in full control. Mila Obidzinski was another stand out with great defense skills contributing 6 steals and 6 points.
This was a complete team win, highlighted by effort, execution, and energy from start to finish. Congratulations to Annabelle Ross and Holiday Lora on earning Players of the Game honors this week — well deserved after dominant performances!
8th B Team
North’s B team faced an early challenge against the Colleyville Colts, getting off to a slow start in the first quarter. However, the team quickly found its rhythm in the second quarter, picking up the pace and turning momentum in their favor with increased intensity and focus on both ends of the court.
Kendall Dunkelberger sparked the offense, setting the tone with a clutch three-pointer that jumpstarted North’s scoring and energized the team. Her shot opened up the floor and helped build confidence as North settled into the game. Angelica Bennett delivered a strong all-around performance, contributing 9 points and making a key transition to the four position to strengthen the team defensively. Her versatility and effort played a major role in controlling the tempo and limiting the Colts’ opportunities.
Harper Johnson made a big impact in the paint, working tirelessly under the basket and battling for position on every possession. She played solid defense, showed excellent positioning, and used her left-handed advantage to maintain strong ball control while pushing the pace up and down the court. Johnson finished with 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal, but her impact extended far beyond the stat sheet.
As a team, North displayed great composure and ball control, executing transitions effectively and maintaining pressure throughout the game. Their effort and determination led to a well-earned 22–8 victory over the Colts.
Player of the Game honors go to Harper Johnson for her outstanding gameplay, hustle, and sportsmanship. Her continued improvement in practice is clearly translating to game-time success. Congratulations to the entire B team on a strong team win and an impressive effort against Colleyville!
8th C Team
North’s C Team came out aggressive and confident in their matchup against the Colleyville Colts, setting the tone early with strong defensive pressure and disciplined offensive execution. From the opening minutes, North controlled the pace of play, showing poise and intensity as they held the lead for the majority of the game. Despite a late push from the Colts in the final quarter, North battled to the end in a hard-fought contest, ultimately falling just short, 22–17.
The Colts introduced a 2–3 zone defense, a new look for North this season, but the team adjusted quickly and continued to attack with confidence. North moved the ball well in transition and executed an effective high-low offense that created quality scoring opportunities. Their ability to recognize gaps in the defense and convert in the first half was a clear reflection of the team’s growth and developing basketball IQ.
Despite being short-handed, North never allowed their energy or focus to drop. A huge shoutout goes to Fatima Coria, who stepped up as the team’s only point guard for the entire game and never missed a beat. She brought relentless energy, controlled the tempo, and led the offense with confidence, finishing with 4 points and an impressive 7 steals. Her hustle, leadership, and court awareness kept North competitive from start to finish.
Defensively, Karis Wilkins delivered an outstanding performance, consistently playing with strong positioning and high awareness. She ran the baseline effectively, read the ball well, and made smart cuts that led to 4 points. Wilkins also made her presence felt across the stat sheet with 3 rebounds and 2 steals, impacting the game on both ends of the floor.
Jane Lambert also played a key role, adjusting seamlessly to the high-post position. She contributed 3 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and added 4 steals, providing steady effort and strong defense throughout the game.
This was a strong overall showing from the C Team, highlighted by resilience, adaptability, and determination despite a short roster. Player of the Game honors go to Karis Wilkins for her consistency, effort, and ability to read the ball and make timely plays when it mattered most.
While the final score didn’t reflect the team’s effort, this performance showcased continued growth, development, and promise as the season moves forward.
CMSN 7th grade Girls Basketball Battles Colleyville in Home Matchup
On December 15, Coppell Middle School North welcomed Colleyville Middle School for an exciting night of girls basketball at CMSN, highlighted by gritty defense, balanced scoring, and strong team effort from all 3 teams.
A TEAM opened the game with a strong defensive focus right from the tip-off. Their defensive intensity held the Colts to just 3 points in the first quarter; however, the Cougars’ offense was slow to start, scoring only 2 points in the opening period. After a quick reset, the second quarter became an opportunity for North to pull ahead, taking a 15–4 lead into halftime. The Colts were never able to recover offensively, and North finished with a commanding 31–11 win over Colleyville to remain undefeated. Player of the Game honors went to point guard Aspen Bingham for her aggressive defense, playmaking ability, and game-high 11 points. Additional North A scorers: Nithya Boppana (5), Sophia Shortino (5), Lilly Jarmon (4), Samira Augustin (2), and Suin Cho (2).
B TEAM delivered a thrilling contest that came down to the final moments. The game was tied 23–23 at the end of regulation after four hard fought quarters. In the three minute overtime period, Colleyville was able to convert a crucial free throw, edging CMSN by a final score of 24–23. Despite the narrow loss, the girls showed tremendous heart and determination throughout the game. Breigh Holguin earned Player of the Game honors for her leadership and amazing defense, finishing with 7 points. Additional scoring came from Brooklyn Vaughan (6), Sofia Gallardo (4), Isabella Johnson (2), Abby Sauer (2), and Layla Stevens (2).
C TEAM secured a strong 21–14 victory, leading from start to finish and setting the tone early. The girls played with intensity across all four quarters and maintained control on both ends of the floor. Hila Silverman was named Player of the Game after leading all scorers with 9 points. She was supported by Priya Madala (4), Maggie Sine (2), Keira Muliyil (2), Makenna Cline (2), and Mia Vasquez (2) in a well-balanced team performance.
CMSN Girls Basketball will return to action on January 15, 2026, when they take on Heritage Middle School.
