North at the District Tournament

Your North Cougars entered the district tournament as the #2 seed and opened with a dominant first-round win over Grapevine. North came out locked in and set the tone immediately—jumping out to a 23–2 lead and never looking back. Our defense led the way from start to finish. Annabelle Ross finished with 18 points and 19 rebounds, Holiday Lora added 11 points, and Brooke Webb contributed 2 points and 6 rebounds in a complete team effort.

Next, North faced Colleyville in a tough, physical matchup. It was a back-and-forth battle all night. North held a slim 12–11 lead after the first quarter, but Colleyville took a 20–17 advantage into halftime. The game stayed close until the final minutes, when North’s defense dug deep—overcoming a 3-point deficit with about two minutes left and closing strong to earn a huge 42–34 win. Annabelle Ross posted 17 points and 15 rebounds, Brylee Felix delivered an all-around performance with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 steals, and Kate McGrath was outstanding with 3 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals while taking on the challenge of guarding their primary ball handler all game long.

North advanced to the Championship game against Cross Timbers, ready to fight for revenge after our only regular-season loss. The game was a true battle—intense, competitive, and filled with effort on every possession. Kate McGrath and Mila Obidzinski did an incredible job defensively, stepping up and working tirelessly to slow down their ball handler. Despite our best effort, Cross Timbers edged us out 50–46. Even in the loss, our girls showed who they are. Annabelle Ross once again led the way with 19 points and 20 rebounds, and Emmy Anene added 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals.

This season was about so much more than one final score. This group grew, battled through adversity, supported each other, and represented North the right way. I couldn’t be prouder of them—and I’m truly thankful I got to coach this team.
