North hosted its first home game of the season, and the Cougars made sure it was a night to remember! With the district tournament right around the corner, A Team knew this was a big opportunity to build momentum, and they came out ready to make a statement.
Nadia Stanback got the night started with an incredible goal that brought the energy and set the tone early. Then Brylee Felix found the back of the net to give North a strong 2-0 lead going into halftime. Heritage battled back and cut the lead to 2-1, but North did not blink. Player of the game Karissa Hansen answered immediately with back-to-back goals, slamming the door shut and securing a huge 4-1 victory for the Cougars!
A major shoutout goes to North’s defense, who played with toughness, confidence, and attitude all night long. They were ruthless in winning the ball back, controlling possession, and keeping North on the attack. This was a complete team win and exactly the kind of momentum A Team needs heading into the final stretch of the season!
Then it was B Team’s turn, and they stepped on the field with one mission: secure the district championship. And that is exactly what they did! From the opening whistle, North played fast, connected, and confident. The ball movement was electric, the defense was locked in, and the energy never dropped.
Sehbin Lee was everywhere with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Bryce Wilson added 1 goal and 2 assists to help power the offense. Aavika Kishnani, Kaylee Avila and Adeline Mendola all found the back of the net, and Madeline Koehler added a beautiful assist to keep the attack rolling. Ameya Shah moved the ball around like it was on a string, and Junehee Lee spent the entire game making plays and creating chances for her teammates.
Defensively, North was just as dominant. Ana Hughes helped lead the back line to another shutout, Melany Castillo Luna was a defensive stud in the middle of the field, and Holiday Lora brought the voice, energy, and leadership needed to anchor the defense. In goal, Karis Wilkin came up with a big save to help secure the shutout, and Suni Cho delivered what might be the save of the year!
Player of the Game goes to Fatima Coria, who had 1 goal, 1 assist, and her best game of the season! She played with confidence, effort, and toughness from start to finish.
And just like that...
BACK-TO-BACK UNDEFEATED DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! ????
