North Wins Both at Heritage Middle School

The North Cougars continued their strong season Thursday night with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Heritage Middle School in Grapevine, Texas.

North came out aggressive early, controlling possession and creating attacking chances in the opening minutes. About five minutes into the match, midfielder Emiliano Salas found himself in the right place at the right time after a rebound from a North striker bounced loose in the box. Salas quickly finished the opportunity to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead and spark the North sideline.

The Cougars continued to pressure Heritage throughout the first half with strong efforts from Sergio Exposito Perez, Graham Burgess, Santiago Zurita controlling the midfield. Defensively, North stayed organized with key contributions from Ashmit Adhikari, and Marcus Nixon, and Oscar Martin helping protect the lead.

Heritage battled back in the second half and managed to score to tie the game at 1-1, but North refused to back down. The Cougars answered with another attacking push, using strong ball movement and teamwork from Diego Cuberos with several beautiful headers to attempt the scoring possession.

North eventually found the game-winning goal to secure the 2-1 victory, when Santi Zurita hit a key header over the keeper for the score. North goalkeepers Brooks Ford and Crosby Grizzle also contributed with key saves and communication from the back to help preserve the win late in the match.

Additional contributions came from Ryker Allen, along with North strikers Ben Peiffer, Seth Campbell whose attacking pressure kept the Heritage defense on its heels throughout the night.

With the victory, the Cougars continue building momentum as they head into the next stretch of the season.

B TEAM Representing
The North Cougars B Team earned an impressive 3-1 victory Thursday night against Heritage Middle School in a match filled with strong teamwork and timely scoring.

North wasted no time getting on the board. Early in the first half, Viaan Desai finished a great attacking sequence after a well-placed assist from Aaron Swonke to give the Cougars a quick 1-0 lead. The early goal helped North settle into the match and control possession.

The Cougars continued to attack throughout the half, creating chances with strong play from Liam Dow, Vihaan Sapkota, Diego Sanchez, Jaithera Nettem, and Roj Bista. With 8:14 remaining in the half, Swonke added a goal of his own to extend the North lead to 2-0.

Defensively, the Cougars stayed organized and physical throughout the night. Strong efforts from Joseph Ortega, Christian Bennet, Nathan Campbell, Alexander Marks helped limit Heritage scoring opportunities.

In the second half, Heritage managed to score and cut the lead to 2-1, putting pressure on the Cougars late in the game. North responded with composure and continued to push forward offensively with contributions from Diego Sanchez, Preston Boucher, and Hector Martinez.

With just 40 seconds remaining, Austin Shelby sealed the victory with a late goal off an assist from Diego Mata, giving the Cougars a 3-1 final score.
