North Cougars A Team Defeats Grapevine 3–1

The North Cougars A Team put together a strong performance to earn a 3–1 victory over Grapevine Middle School, showing improved possession and relentless effort across the field.

Just seven minutes into the first half, Emiliano Salas set the tone after being awarded a penalty kick and calmly finishing to give North an early 1–0 lead. The Cougars continued to press, and midway through the half, Ben Peiffer connected with Sergio Exposito Perez for a well-timed goal, extending the lead to 2–0.

Grapevine responded with about nine minutes remaining in the half, capitalizing on a cross to cut the deficit to 2–1. However, North stayed composed and continued to control the pace of play. Late in the game, Salas and Exposito Perez teamed up once again, with Emiliano assisting Sergio for the Cougars’ third and final goal, sealing the 3–1 win.

Defensively, North showed grit and determination. Graham Burgess stood out with his nonstop hustle, while Oscar Martin used his quick recovery speed to protect the back line. Santiago Zurita added several key slide tackles that helped stop Grapevine’s attacking chances.

The Cougars also demonstrated noticeable growth in possession, doing a much better job maintaining control of the ball and dictating the flow of the game.

Goalkeepers Brooks Ford and Crosby Grizzle shared time in net and contributed to securing the win.

North continues to build momentum as the season progresses.

North Cougars B Team Dominates in 6–0 Victory

The North Cougars B Team delivered a complete performance in a commanding 6–0 win, combining sharp attacking play with a strong defensive effort and contributions across the entire roster.

North got on the board early in the first half when Liam Dow set up Preston Boucher for the opening goal. The Cougars kept the pressure on, and with 12 minutes remaining in the half, Christian Bennet assisted Austin Shelby, who finished to make it 2–0 heading into halftime.

The second half saw North take full control. Aaron Swonke converted a penalty kick with a powerful strike to the top of the net, extending the lead. Austin Shelby added his second goal after an impressive run up the field, and Jaithra Nettem followed with a long-range “banger” that energized the sideline. In the final moments of the match, Preston Boucher scored his second goal to cap off the 6–0 victory.

Quick, impactful plays from Hector Martinez helped keep the tempo high, as North consistently moved the ball forward and created opportunities.

Defensively, it was a true team effort. Players including Vihaan Sapkota, Diego Sanchez, Roj Bista, Gautham Muresh, Viaan Desai, Joshua Rose, Alexander Marks, Nathan Campbell, Joseph Ortega, and Caleb Rose all contributed with strong positioning, hustle, and smart decision-making to limit scoring chances.

Goalkeepers Dominic Keating and Diego Rodriguez combined for the shutout, anchoring a dominant defensive performance.

Overall, it was a complete team win, with every player contributing to the Cougars’ success as they continue to build momentum. North B team finished the season 3-1-2 - 2nd place, 11 points . Three points from the leaderboard.
