The North Football Cougars played the Hillwood Chargers this week. Every team was down players due to illness or injury but all teams played hard and played well. The 7th grade traveled to Hillwood and the B team started the night. They fought hard but were a bit outmanned and lost 0-40. Players of the game were Matias Leon, Luke Brinck, and Aaron Malick. The A team hung tough early but a much bigger Hillwood team prevailed 0-43. Players of the game were Gage De Los Santos, Will Kennington, and Cade Slaton.
The 8th grade played 3 games at North with the C team starting off the night. It was a hard fought game but the C team ended up losing their first game if the year 0-7. Players of the game were AJ Gonzales, Josh Maki, and Nathan Rusch. The B team was hit hard by injuries and sickness. But they showed plenty of Cougar grit and played hard till the end of a 0-32 loss. Players of the game were Miles Fain and Richard Gonzales. The A team took the opening kickoff down the field and opened the scoring on a 27 yard TD pass from Scott Fishpaw to Matthew Neitzel for an 8-0 lead. But Hillwood, with a couple of nationally ranked players, stormed back and took a 8-46 win. Players of the game were Alex Kraus, Scott Fishpaw, and O'Marion Mbakwe. The Cougars will take on a familiar foe in the Dawson Dragons next Tuesday. The 7th grade will play at North and the 8th grade will be at Dawson. All games start at 5pm.
