NORTH FOOTBALL PLAYS DAWSON

North Football Plays Dawson

Last Tuesday night the North football teams played the Dawson Dragons. Both groups played well with the 8th grade winning 2 out of 3 while the 7th grade dropped 2 hard fought games. In the 7th grade games at North, the B team took an early 13-0 lead on two Matias Leon TD runs. Dawson would come back to take a 14-13 lead but Diego Sanchez took the ensuing kickoff back 72 yards for a 19-14 Cougar lead. But the Dragons wouldn't quit and scored 2 TD's for a 19-36 lead. Leon scored a final TD but the Cougars would drop a 25-36 decision. In the A game The Cougars showed great improvement but still couldn't get over the hump dropping a 0-24 game that was closer than the score may indicate. Jackson Floren and Will Kennington had interceptions, Isaiah Flemimg caused and recovered a fumble, and Dillon Slaton made several good tackles to keep the Dragons at bay.
In the 8th grade game sat Dawson the C team opened up the night with a 13-0 victory. Eric Olvera caused a fumble that AJ Gonzales would recover and Josh Maki added an INT for the Cougars before Uche Odimegwu and Gonzales scored back to back TD's for the victory. In the B game the Cougars would fall behind 0-13 before Luis Mendez-Gil scored on a 42 yard TD run. Jaxon Lowe would add an INT but the Dragons would prevail 6-20. In the A game O'Marion Mbakwe would score 3 TD's, 2 running and 1 reception, to lead the Cougars to a 24-12 victory. Alex Kraus added an INT and threw the TD pass to Mbakwe, Beckham Sanguras had 2 INT's, Cole Kinnan recovered a fumble caused by Landon Davis, and Ben Murphy converted all 3 PAT's in the win.
The Cougars take on Adams MS on Tuesday with the 7th grade traveling to Adams while the 8th grade will host at North.
