Once again, our 7th grade teams headed West and followed the setting sun for a matchup at Hillwood Middle School on Monday night. In the first game, C team was pressured from the start with Hillwood’s press. But they worked through the adversity to stay competitive in the game. Santiago Mendoza led the team with 4 rebounds; Archer Waren collected 4 steals; and Ryan Ochei led the team in scoring with 3 points. Ultimately, C team fell 22-10.

In the second game, B team got off to a quick start and looked strong through the first quarter. Unfortunately, Hillwood then climbed up a ladder and put a lid on the hoop, and the scoring became much more difficult. Caden Meschner led the team in steals with 3 and Satvik Kolathaya dropped in 7 points with a nice showing. However, the final score didn’t go the Cougars’ way as they lost 41-19.

And the highlight of the night was a fantastic team effort from A team to roar back and overcome a very athletic Hillwood team. Despite being behind early, A team never gave up and the effort showed. Madden Montague wouldn’t back down and collected 6 rebounds. Sawyer Smith was a thief on defense and snuck away with 4 steals. And both Charlie Sauer (10 points) and Zane Nimalaratne (18 points; clutch in the 4th!) dropped in big buckets all night long to secure the comeback VICTORY: 41-36!
