7TH BOYS FALL TO MIGHTY MEDLIN

7th Boys Fall to Mighty Medlin

COACH THOMPSON

North Coaches | 12/2/2021

The 7th grade boys played their home opener on Wednesday night hosting Medlin Middle School. C team shot out of the gate with great effort, but struggled to make some shots that would have built a strong lead. After halftime, Medlin pumped up the pressure and found an advantage on the scoreboard. And despite an energetic 4th quarter, the Cougars didn’t have quite enough in the tank to complete the comeback and lost 27-14. The Player of the Game was Santiago Mendoza who led the team in rebounds, steals, and points!

The B squad dropped in a layup to take an early lead and fire up the crowd. But Medlin’s press led to some fast scores and the Cougars quickly faced an uphill battle. At times, it seemed as though Medlin’s long distance 3’s couldn’t miss as they rained down and added to their lead. Despite an exhaustive effort from Finn Dinsmore at point, and scoring spurts from both Naail Bhatty (10 points) and Satvik Kolathaya (9 points), B team ended up taking the loss, 60-31.

And in the finale, A team was determined to keep their winning streak alive. However, the Medlin boys also had the same idea. As the game progressed, Medlin slowly built a lead through ball pressure and a hot shooting performance. For North, Madden Montague did the dirty work and led the team in both rebounds and steals. And both Zane Nimalaratne (10 points) and Charlie Sauer (8 points) once again led the team in scoring, but it just wasn’t enough to hold off Medlin as they fell 48-27.
