TIDWELL TITANS TOO TOUGH!

Tidwell Titans too Tough!

COACH THOMPSON

North Coaches | 12/7/2021

On Monday night, the 7th Grade Cougars traveled West once again to take on the Tidwell Titans. In the opener, C Team decided to check into the Heartbreak Hotel for the evening. After a strong first half performance helped them take a lead into halftime, the Titans made a run in the second half to build a lead of their own. But the Cougars didn’t wilt, and pulled together an enthusiastic comeback that ultimately ended with the winning shot rolling off the rim as the buzzer sounded; leaving the scoreboard to read 16-15 in Tidwell’s favor. The Player of the Game goes to Pedro Avila for his team highs in rebounds (9) and points (6) all while running point guard for the first time this season.

In the middle game, B Team tried to keep the energy high after the exciting C game finish, and played with a solid effort all around. The game stayed fairly tight throughout the first half and into the second with Naail Bhatty leading the way with 8 points, 7 steals, and 3 rebounds on the night. Rylan Sneed also busted out the Windex and cleaned the glass to add 7 rebounds of his own. But in the end, the Titans pulled away a bit and took the victory over the Cougars with a final score of 33-20.

Lastly, the A Team had plans of knocking down the Titans and came out aggressively pushing the pace of play. Tidwell was ready for the Cougars’ effort though, and took advantage of some transition opportunities to gain the lead throughout the first half action. Despite a team-leading 11 points from Zane Nimalaratne and 4 strong rebounds from Evan Macken, Tidwell continued to pour it on and didn’t look back. In the end, the Cougars fell 49-24 to wrap up play for the night.
