This week, the North Cougars 7th grade football team took a short road trip to take on one of their cross-town rivals- the Wranglers of CMS West. It was a beautiful fall evening for some great action on the field.

The North B team got things started and came out ready to play. With a smothering defense, the Cougars held their West rivals at bay for most of the game. Bennett Head was flying all over the field making tackles from his linebacker position and also had an interception on the night. And Ethan Kim also helped the cause on defense with 2 interceptions of his own! On offense, the Cougars were efficient moving the ball and found the end zone a few times to jump in front of the Wranglers. A TD pass from Ethan to Ethan (Khera to Kim that is) gave the Cougars the lead highlighted by a diving catch for the point after by Bennett Head. And then Ridham Babel took off on a QB keeper for another score in his first action as a quarterback this season to put North on top for good; securing a 14-0 victory for the Cougars B team.

Following the thrilling first game, the Cougars A team was fired up and ready from the start as well. After offsetting penalties required a redo on the initial kickoff, Jacob Anene took the return to the house for an opening Cougar TD! And both the North defense and offense didn't wait to get in on the action either. On defense, Mateo De La Hoya built a house and moved into the Wrangler backfield recording several QB sacks and tackles for loss! And the Cougars defense also forced a couple other turnovers on fumbles including a goal line stand right before halftime to keep West off the scoreboard. Offensively, QB Jack Wilmington threw 3 TD passes (2 to Brady Bowden and 1 to Isaac VanKirk) and both Jacob Anene and Sebastian Ramos broke off long TD runs of their own to build the North advantage. The Cougars also punched through 2 extra point kicks by Chase Kugler that added up to a decisive 40-0 WIN for North!
