Your North Cougars traveled to Tidwell for their first game of the season. First up were the C teams and North came out ready to play! North jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back! North’s defense paved the way for a 20-8 victory! The players of the game go to Zoey Harrison and Ginny Hall! Their defense was unmatched by anyone on the court accounting for numerous steals and forced turnovers!
North’s B team looked to carry the same momentum as the C team did however, Tidwell jumped out to a 19-11 lead at halftime. Tidwell did not let up and got by 10 one minute into the fourth!l However, we all know North is not going down without a fight and went on to have a 12-0 run taking the lead by 2!! Tidwell hit a free throw to make it a 1 point game. North played outstanding but unfortunately, Tidwell hit a game-winner as the time expired! The cougars lose 28-27. However, the fight they showed in the fourth showed that they will be a team to reckon with all season. The player of the game goes to Anna Grace Gauntt. She was a leader on the court and played 4 different positions on the court! She finished the night with 6 points.
Last up were the A teams and North came out ready to win! North’s defense got better as the night went on! North led 19-14 at halftime but only allowed 3 points the whole second half! North wins 39-17! The player of the game goes to Riley Koski-Barger! With a team-high 15 points, relentless defense, and great ball control from the point guard!



The first game of the season, your 7th grade North Cougars played Tidwell at home! First up were the C teams, ready to defend their home court. The first half of the game your girls were winning 14-4. They were fired up- ready to continue their lead! In the second half your C team won 27-7. Even with their strong lead, they continued to play aggressively and secured their win!? The player of the game for C team was Rin Kikuchi. Rin was the fastest girl on the court and would take the ball every opportunity she got. She led the team well- we are so proud of you!
Next up were the B teams. They were fired up and ready to play after watching the C team. In the first set, your girls were leading 15-8. This game was a nail-biter, but they were prepared to fight and secure their first win! In the second half, they finished strong and won 29-14. This week, we have 2 players of the game for B team. First Averie Gonzales played her heart out! If a girl had the ball anywhere near Averie, she would take it and break for the basket. Next up is Alexa Boudreaux. Alexa knew where she needed to be on the court and would consistently defend the basket. Both Averie and Alexa led the team. We are so proud of you both!
Last up was the A team, ready to win a secure a clean sweep. This game was a nail-biter down to the very last second. In the first half of the game, your A team was leading in the first half 16-13. During half-time, Coach Martens encouraged your girls to finish strong, be confident, and aggressive. Tidwell scored a free-throw and led 36-35 in the last 9 seconds of the game. Addison Hamm threw the ball into half court to Morgan Proctor who shot a layup in the final second, winning 35-37. The crowd was going crazy!! Congratulations on an awesome game A team! Player of the game for A team was Morgan Proctor. She led her team well and was aggressively rebounding every ball. When Morgan was in the game, we were confident. We are so proud of you Morgan!!
