After returning from the Thanksgiving break, the North 7th grade boys basketball team took their first road trip of the season on Wednesday night to take on the Hawks of Timberview Middle School. It was an exciting night of action back on the court!

To start off the evening, the North C team looked to get the momentum rolling. Apparently though, both teams still had too much turkey in their systems and the game got off to a very sluggish start. With a little back and forth, the halftime scoreboard only showed the Cougars leading by a 7-4 score. But in the second half, North roared to life to took control of the game; led by Ryan Maki's team-leading 8 points as well as Miguel Lopez Dos Santos's 7 points and a whopping 15 rebounds ad 4 steals. In the end, the Cougars put away their third victory of the year with a 25-10 win over the Hawks.

In the second game, North's B team jumped out to a quick start and took control with a 9-0 lead after the first quarter. Balanced scoring from Mateo De La Hoya, Bennett Head, and Brayden Vaughn (6 points apiece) as well as strong rebounding from Ridham Babel (9) and De La Hoya (8) kept the Cougars rolling right along. Despite a scoring spurt from the Hawks in the 4th quarter, North held on for a solid 34-21 victory to also start the season 3-0.

And in a story that keep repeating, the Cougars A team took the floor with an opportunity to complete the sweep for the third time in a row. Timberview's squad had other ideas though and came out fast to start the game. As North clawed back, they were boosted by some hot shooting by Will Stewart who drained 3 first quarter three pointers (4 on the night) to lead the team with 12 points. Jacob Anene added 11 points and Jack Schnell battled in the lane to lead the Cougars in rebounds (5) and steals (4) to further the effort. In the end though, with North clinging to a 2 point lead, the Hawks had an opportunity to tie the game with free throws after a late foul call. But as the ball bounced in and OUT, the Cougars victory was sealed with a 33-31 win to bring out the brooms and SWEEP the Hawks off of their home court.
