As the North 7th grade boys basketball season continues, the Cougars tipped-off against the Eagles of Argyle Middle School on Monday evening to start the second half of their season. Both teams held spots at the top of the district standings, so who would come out on top?

In the C game to start the evening, the Cougars appeared a bit road weary from the bus trip to Argyle and fell behind from the start. The Eagles applied pressure throughout the game and built up a solid lead. However, North didn't give up the fight and began to claw back led by 7 points from Lenox Gillam and 6 rebounds from Miguel Lopez Dos Santos. In the end though, the Cougars just couldn't catch up and took their first loss of the season with a final score of 40-29.

In the second game of the trio, the North Cougars B team was ready for the Eagle's pressure and played a tight game throughout. While the Eagles maintained a narrow lead, North stayed connected behind a team leading 18 points from Ridham Babel. However, Argyle was able to squeeze out the tight 40-35 victory to also hand North's B team their first loss this year.

For the final contest on the night, Argyle's A squad came out hot and were able to quickly pressure the Cougars into several transition opportunities. The Eagles built a commanding lead throughout the first half; up 36-13 at the break. The Cougars gave it their best and worked to find a spark, but despite 14 points from Jacob Anene, North just couldn't catch up and also found the Loss column for the first time this season with the 54-22 final score.

While the night didn't have the results that all Cougar fans had hoped for, North's 7th grade teams are all still right at the top of the standings and look to get back to work next week!
