On Monday evening, the North 7th grade boys basketball teams played their final home game of the season as the Eagles from Indian Springs Middle School visited Coppell. As has been the norm this season, it was another exciting night of basketball all around!

As the C game tipped off, the Cougars took control immediately with a layup off the jump. Applying ample pressure to create diamonds, the North roster created enough turnovers to start a bakery and built an 18-3 lead in the first quarter. While the entire roster contributed to the effort, the team was led by Miguel Lopez Dos Santos with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals. As North stayed strong, the Eagles just couldn't get off the ground and the final result was a 56-17 Cougar WIN!

With the second game of the night, Indian Springs tried to flip the story and came out with pressure of their own in the B game. The Cougars stumbled a bit trying to move the ball, and the Eagles took control early. Staying true to their personality, North dug in and didn't wilt under the press and started to pull the Eagles back in like a Tug-of-War battle. Led by 21 points from Brayden Vaughan, the Cougars were able to take the lead for the first time late in the game and add a little insurance in the final minutes to secure a 45-39 comeback win.

Much like the week before, the gymnasium was literally buzzing as the A teams stepped up to play. Could North secure their 6th sweep of the season? It was time to find out! However, the Eagles didn't want to see the brooms and came out fighting. Much like the B game, North was faced with a tough task and fell behind early. The Cougars once again found themselves in a familiar situation; and knew what to do. Without being discouraged, North kept chipping away like a sculptor working on a masterpiece. And in fact, Jacob Anene's game high 41 points was exactly that- a piece of art to relish and remember. Along with contributions up and down the roster, the Cougars finally found the lead and finished off another come from behind thriller, 66-62... and the brooms were busted out once again!

Next week, North will finish up their regular season by taking on crosstown rivals- the Broncos from East. Will East be Beast or with North be Best? Either way, both teams will be looking for bragging rights!

UP NEXT: Monday, 1/30 vs. East Middle School (Away)
