The 8th grade A team competed in the District tournament this past Thursday and Friday at North. Their overall record placed them in the 4th seed spot.

On Thursday, the Cougars took on the East Broncos. They came out swinging and never let up, securing the win in 2 sets: 25-15, 25-16. Winning the coin toss put Zoey Ponsen on the end line to start off serving for the Cougars. She contributed 11 straight points! The Broncos won only 7 rallies in the first set, as they were not able to rebound from North's aggressive serves, defensive coverage, some impressive offensive plays and overall LOUD and collaborative teamwork. Set 2 proved an equally impressive show from the Cougars with Zoey Ponsen contributing 6 serves, Emma Hurst showing out on a perfect B set, Morgan Proctor, Addison Hamm, Narmin Azim, and Bella Marvin cleaning up in the back row and countless other plays from our front row players. The match win against the Broncos moved the Cougars in to the Final Four contenders for Friday's tournament play.

North faced the #1 seed and an undefeated team, the Colleyville Colts on Friday at 5:00. While the match was lost in 2 sets: 19-25, 26-28, the Cougars fought hard and played one of their best matches of the season. Shoutout to Emma Hurst for her aggressive serving in set 2 resulting in 7 unanswered points, Addison Hamm for her consistency in serve receive and defensive coverage, Lacey Jones for stepping up as North's leading pin hitter in kills and the entire North bench, whose energy on the sidelines carried over into what was almost the Colts first upset of the season.

After losing the match against Colleyville, North faced Colleyville Heritage for the second time this season to compete for the 3rd place title. While it was not the ending the Cougars had hoped for, the match went to 3 emotional sets before the Wolves took the win: 25-22, 19-25, 7-15.

Your Lady Cougars took 4th place in District and the way they fought and ended the season is a showing that any coach should be proud of! Congratulations, Cougars on your season! You represented your school so well and North is so very proud of YOU!
