On Monday evening, the North Cougars 7th grade boys basketball team took to the court to officially open their season. North played host to the Broncos of Colleyville Heritage Middle School as the gym was bouncing with excitement to get started!

Tipping off first, the Cougar's A team looked to set the tone early. Throughout the first half, North built a comfortable lead and found themselves in control. However, as the Cougars applied a little pressure to start the second half, they quickly jumped well ahead of the Broncos. North was led by Kash Hickman (16 points), Brody McCormick (11 points), and Tyler Mayer (10 points) working hard in the paint. And in the end, the Cougars finished off a dominant victory; 58-22 to start the night off right!

Following this, it was now the B team's turn to defend their home court. And even though the score book didn't fill up quite as quickly, the Cougars grabbed the lead and stayed in control throughout the contest. Lukas Pate led the team with 8 points, but was supported by a true team effort in which 7 other players all logged 2 points apiece. Even though the Broncos found a little momentum in the fourth quarter, North closed out the win by a final of 22-27 to also start their season in the win column.

And in the final contest of the evening, North's C team now had the opportunity to close out the series and provide a 3-0 sweep over Heritage. Ishan Jindal paced the effort with a smooth 13 points on the night, assisted by a few others, and North quickly raced out in the lead. Playing aggressive defense and mixing in efficient shots in transition, North never left the game in doubt and took down the Broncos 34-9 to complete the 3 game sweep!

All in all, it was a fantastic start for the North Cougars squad who will now look to carry this momentum forward into their final game before the holidays next week. Come on out and cheer them on this winter!
