On Monday evening, the North Cougars hit the road to play their crosstown rivals, the Wranglers of CMS West! These rivalry games are always sure to provide some excitement, and this edition didn't disappoint.

In the first game of the night, North's A team jumped out to an early lead and didn't look back. Building momentum from the start, the Cougars stayed in control throughout and left the Wranglers wondering how they could stop North's top squad. North was led by an overall effort from Shrihan Vankamamidi (14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals), but several others filled the box score as well. Brody McCormick led the team with 15 points along with 10 more from Jaydan Saint-Fort; Tyler Mayer added 5 rebounds, Brooks Floren collected 4 steals and 3 assists, and Kash Hickman distributed a team high 4 assists. As the buzzer sounded, the scoreboard showed a dominating 55-21 victory for the Cougars!

The Cougar B team was energized from the first game and also started strong right from the tip. Grant Hubble paced the team with 6 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists. But in a team effort, Ryan Montgomery added 7 rebounds while Johnathan Anderson and Ashwath Kolla nabbed 6 rebounds each to keep possession with North all game long. As the game moved into the second half, the Cougars continued to pull away to secure a 32-10 win and stay undefeated on the season.

Once again, just as they did last week, the North C team took the court with a chance to wrap up a 3 game sweep for the Cougars. However, the Wranglers were just as motivated to try and stop this from happening. In a back and forth first half, both teams battled for the ball and tried to find a way to score. But at the half, there hadn't been many baskets for either side with North holding a very slim lead. Using some on the ball pressure to start the second half, North was able to slowly pull away and eyed the sweep they were hoping to earn. Among others, Joshua Baek added 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals while Joseph Castaneda dominated down low with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The Cougars capped off the night with a 26-12 victory to earn the sweep over their rivals from West.

As a public service announcement, if you happen to still need a holiday gift idea for one of the North 7th Grade Boys Basketball team members, you might consider buying them a broom. After all, they have started the season off by SWEEPING their first two opponents, and look to keep this trend going when they return to action following the upcoming break. On behalf of the Cougars, Happy Holidays to all of their fans and supporters!
