The Coppell Middle School North girls basketball team took on the Cross Timbers Wolves on January 18th at the CSMN gyms. The A team started the game precession with a big battle. Cross Timbers outscored the A team each quarter, 5-12, 8-19, 19-31, 28-40. But we saw huge improvement in the Cougars transition, passing game and defense. Aneesha Anand stood out coming in to score two quick baskets during the third quarter. The Players of the Game (POG) were Izzy Lingenbrink and Emma Rose. These players stood out for their quick helpside defense and full throttle aggressive play. The team was led in scoring by Olly Anene and Taylor Mechsner with 6 points each. Unfortunately, the help from all players was not enough to end with the win The final score for A team was 28-40, Wolves.

The next game, the B team played a tight game matching points each quarter starting slowly. The Cougars fell behind but two quick jump shots from Abby Behr the quarter ended on a tie score 8-8. The Cougars then fell behind only scoring 4 points to the Wolves 8 resulting in a halftime score 12-16. In the third quarter, Finleigh Sanders, Tarusi Aphale and Gabby Keating each made a basket ending the quarter 18-16. The fourth quarter was a wild ride as a last minute bucket by Ariana Datta tied the game 20-20. Sadly, in the last minute, Cross Timbers scored a free throw to put the Wolves up by one point. The final score was 20-21, CTMS. Tarusi Aphale and Abby Behr were honored as the players of the game.

The most exciting game of the night was the C game. Once again the fans in the stands cheered loudly for all 15 of the C team Cougars as they battled out with the feisty Wolves. The C team pushed to score 6 to 6 for the first quarter, Parmis Farzad scored four of her six points in that quarter. Her impact was not finished there as she played with two groups to send the first half score 8-8. In the third quarter, the Cougars broke away to lead by two as Sanvi Promula scored two big buckets from underneath the basket. Sarah Wells scored a goal and Dany Pease took it to the foul line. The biggest scores came however in the fourth quarter when Madison Tooke hit a quick jumper in front of the basket. Parmis added one more made shot. The Wolves countered with six points in the fourth sending the C team Cougars to a two minute overtime. The battle started again with Sarah Wells tipping off. Dany Pease owned the back line of defense as she was quick to stop her opponent's fast breaks. Renata Lara Velezquez came in hot with a shot with only 30 seconds left to play. The Wolves were not able to match the aggressive defense of Finleigh and Dany and the C team final score was 20-18 with North winning the game. The players of the game were Madison Tooke, Dany Pease, and Parmis Farzad.
