8th Grade A:

Last night, the Coppell Cougars picked up our second, 3 game sweep against the Grapevine Ponies (50-31). The A team played with a lot of heart and did not show signs of slowing down. They played as a team and moved the ball around very well. The girls team had many attempts to score due to our aggressive play and defense. Every single player executed at least one rebound throughout the game. Madie Shelby led with 11 rebounds, Taylor Mechsner with 6, and Aneesha Anand, Charlotte Baade, and Olly Anene with 3. The extra shot attempts made a difference and showed in our final score doubled. This week we worked on a lot of shooting form and drills that paid off against Grapevine. Madi Shelby led with 12 points, Olly Anene followed with 10, and Izzy Lingenbrink with 8. The Cougars gained a lot of momentum in the third quarter scoring 17 of theo 23 points in the 1st half. Our player of the Game goes to Madie Shelby and Izzy Lindenbrink for their consistency and hustle. Izzy contributed 8 steals and Madie had 5. They both had their hand in every part of the game and played amazing! Congrats to the entire team on a great win!
B Team:
8th B team had a big win against the Grapevine Cougars (37-3). The girls came out running their press, and it was unstoppable. They scored 20 points in the first and had to pull off the press due to their speed and unbeatable traps. The second half we ran a new offense with the Ponies running a zone defense. The team caught on fast and were unphased by the changes. Again every single player had at least one rebound during the game. Ariana Datta led with 7 rebounds, London lock had 4, and Madison Tooke & Pamela Brown had 3. This team plays well together and has great court awareness. Finleigh Sanders, Tarusi Aphale,and Abby Behr contributed several assists to help their team dominate offensively. The top scorers of the night were Gaby Keating & Finleigh Sanders with 6 points and Sienna Petereit, Tarusi Aphale, & Abby Behr with 4. All players did well and worked hard on attempting our new inbounds plays and it showed in their performance last night. Players of the Game goes to Gaby Keating and Ariana Datta! They both contributed multiple steals, rebounds, and were key players to our success last night.
C Team:
8th grade C team followed the lead of the other teams with another successful game last night winning (21-4). C team is still undefeated and doing an amazing job!! In the first half,we dominated the Ponies 15-0!! The girls adjusted well to the Ponies zone defense and had many offensive rebounds as well. Awa Ouedraogo led with 8 rebounds, Sarah Wells with 5 and Parmis Farzad with 4. Dany Pease was our top scorer with 8 points, Renata Lara Velasquez with 3. These girls are aggressive and have so much heart!! All players did well and worked hard on attempting our new inbounds plays and it showed in their performance last night. Players of the Game goes to Dany Pease and Parmis Farzad ! They both had multiple steals, rebounds, and were locked in. Keep up the good work ladies!! Congrats on the sweep!!!

12/12/24 7TH VS Grapevine Middle School
The 7th Grade Girls Basketball teams played Grapevine middle school on Thursday night to come ahead with a 3 game sweep. The North A team, coached by Abby Martens led her team to an uncontested 45-7 victory.

7th Grade A:
In their most impressive performance of the season, the A team came out strong from the opening tip and never looked back. With a week-long focus on perfecting their full-court press and shot form, the Cougars executed the game plan flawlessly. The first quarter was all North, as they shut out the Ponies 11-0. The second quarter saw even more dominance, with the Cougars outscoring GMS 20-2, taking a commanding 30-2 lead into halftime. Building on their early momentum, North opted to slow the game down in the second half, running through different offensive plays to get extra practice while still maintaining control. The defense remained relentless, and the Cougars continued to execute their 5-out motion offense, adding 15 points in the second half. Shoutout to all nine players on the roster. Every girl scored and contributed offensively, grabbed rebounds, and played aggressive defense from start to finish. Brylee Felix extended her 3-point streak with a shot in the third quarter, finishing with 7 points. Seren Lovatt Bryant also hit her first career 3-pointer in the second quarter. Emmy Anene continued to demonstrate her leadership with exceptional court awareness and versatility in multiple positions.Players of the game: Bryce Wilson, who led the team in scoring with 9 points and played with impressive aggression; and Annabelle Ross, who dominated the boards with 11 rebounds while adding 8 points.

7th Grade B:

The 7th Grade B team continued their winning streak with a solid 34-15 victory over the Grapevine Ponies. The game was close in the first half, with the Cougars leading by just two points after the first quarter, 7-5. They extended that lead to 13-10 at halftime.
However, the second half was all North Cougars. Their defense locked down, allowing the Mustangs to score only two points in the third quarter. The Cougars’ offense also picked up, pushing their lead to 24-15 by the end of the third quarter. In the final minutes, the Cougars maintained their strong play, finishing the game with a 34-15 win.
Brooke Webb led the team with 12 points, while Sophia Petereit contributed 8 points. Angelica Bennett added 6 points, and both Angie Nguyen and Annabella Sarminto chipped in with 4 points each.

The game was also marked by standout defensive efforts. Webb and Natalie Campos were named Players of the Game for their relentless defense, each recording multiple steals and helping to shut down the Mustangs' offense.

7th Grade C:

The 7th Grade C team came out strong in their game against the Grapevine Ponies, starting the first quarter with intense defense, as neither team scored. However, the Cougars quickly found their rhythm, turning up the energy and scoring 14 points in the second quarter. The crowd was hopeful for a "doughnut" win—when the opposing team is shut out—but once the Cougars’ press was called off due to the point spread rule, the Mustangs managed to score two baskets in the third quarter, finishing that period with a 20-4 deficit.

In the fourth quarter, the Cougars added two more baskets to seal the victory, finishing with a final score of 24-5. Sarah Morchower was a standout player in the game, showing great tenacity with 6 rebounds and hustle plays all over the court. Her willingness to volunteer for multiple positions, including guard, helped the team maintain their energy and edge throughout the game. Fatima Coria was another key contributor, recording an impressive 7 steals along with 2 points. She was constantly in the right place at the right time, intercepting passes and creating turnovers for the Cougars.
