North Volleyball Sweeps Grapevine

It was a big night for North Volleyball as all three teams, A, B and C came out on top against Grapevine, earning the program’s first full sweep of the season.

B Team Victory
25-12, 25-19
The B team set the tone early with a strong win in two sets: 25–12 and 25–19. North dominated from the opening serve in the first set, leaving Grapevine struggling to keep pace. In the second set, Grapevine tried to swing the momentum, but Sharina Haro Gonzalez stepped up with clutch serving, rattling off nine straight points to help secure the match win. Aliah Espinosa and Victoria Mota maintained a steady and consistent touch on the ball keeping the Cougars in system. Angelica Bennet once again proved to be a dominating force on the net in defense. Player of the Game went to Holiday Lora, who not only racked up 13 service points and countless kills, but also provided steady leadership and team chemistry on the court.

A Team Battle
22-25, 25-15, 16-14
Next up was the A team, and the match went the distance with North pulling out a thrilling three-set victory. Grapevine edged out the first set 25–22 despite an early hot streak from Brylee Felix, who served eight consecutive points. North answered back in the second set with a dominant 25–15 win, led by all-around stellar play from a change in line-up and showcasing 4 six rotation players. The deciding set was a nail-biter, but North pulled through 16–14 to seal the match. Sophia Petereit and Peyton Dougher anchored the defense, while Emmy Anene dominated the middle with smart court play and strong blocking. Team captain, Annabelle Ross, stepped up with steady leadership and capped the night with a clutch solo block to help seal the match win. Player of the Game honors went to libero Peyton Dougher, whose calm presence and reliable passing steadied the team throughout the match and Brylee Felix, team captain, who had an outstanding performance, scoring 17 points alone from the service line and contributing across the board with multiple assists, kills, and solid passing.

C Team Domination
25-9, 25-10
The night wrapped up with the C team delivering a commanding performance, winning in two sets 25–9 and 25–10. From start to finish, North controlled the game on both ends of the court. The energy was unparalleled with Ava Hundley swinging and screaming on the front row. Fatima Coria showed out in her setting skills, allowing her hitters multiple opportunities for kills. Madeline Berumen and Sterling Cooke were solid defensive specialists for the Cougars, while Nazareth Clack, Avery Martin and Nadia Stanback owned the net. The Player of the Game was Zara Abbas, who lit up the court with her energy, strong serving, and outstanding all-around play.

With all three teams earning wins, North Volleyball walked away with a complete sweep, an accomplishment that showcases the depth, teamwork, and grit of the entire 8th grade program.

7A Team Battles Hard in Close Match Against Grapevine

The 7A team put up a strong fight in a competitive match, ultimately falling just short in the third set. Grapevine narrowly edged out the first set, 25–22, thanks in part to a player who served eight consecutive points.

North responded with a dominant second-set performance, winning 25–10. The team was led by the all-around stellar play of Gia Reyes, who served seven consecutive points, tallied five assists, and shined in her debut as libero with flawless back-row play.

The deciding third set was tightly contested, but a few key errors by North sealed their fate, with Grapevine closing it out 15–11.
Gia Reyes, Harper Miller, and Aidelaide all contributed strong defensive efforts, while Samira Augustine controlled the middle with powerful, well-timed blocks.

Player of the Game honors went to Gia Reyes, whose calm presence and reliable passing helped steady the team throughout the match. She also led the team in serving.

Player of the Week was awarded to Harper Miller, who had an outstanding week of practice, showing significant improvement, increased confidence, and consistent, solid passing

B Team:
From the opening whistle, North came out energized and focused. Behind a strong serving performance from Mica Ramos-Cho, the team jumped out to an early 10-5 lead. Grapevine battled back, trading points with North, but it wasn’t long before the momentum shifted again. Tatum Frosk stepped up to the service line and delivered a powerful run, stretching the lead to 18-12 and putting North in full control. The team closed out the first set confidently with a 25-18 win.
The second set followed a similar script. North opened with a 7-3 lead, setting the tone early. Then came a pivotal moment: Sofi took over serving duties and led the team on a dominant run, blowing the set wide open at 16-3. North never looked back, finishing off the Ponies with a decisive 25-11 victory.

Tatum Frosk was named Player of the Game, tallying 10 points from the service line and bringing an aggressive, competitive energy that set the pace for North throughout the match.

Mica Ramos-Cho earned Player of the Week honors for her consistent hard work and dedication. She not only contributed on the court but continues to show a strong desire to improve every single day.

Great job, B team—and congratulations to Tatum and Mica on standout performances!

C Team:

Following the B team’s dominant performance, the North C team kept the momentum rolling with a strong showing of their own, defeating Grapevine in straight sets: 25-9 and 25-18.
The match began with North wasting no time establishing control. Arayna Bowers set the tone early with excellent serving, helping the team jump out to a 6-3 lead. After a quick side-out, Evie Hornsby stepped up and delivered a run that extended the lead to 12-4. North’s energy and consistency kept the pressure on, as Keira Muliyil helped push the lead even further to 17-5. The first set was all North, who cruised to a dominant 25-9 victory.

In the second set, Grapevine put up more resistance. North opened with a 4-1 lead, but Grapevine battled back to close the gap to 11-9. However, when Madeline Koehler came up to serve, the momentum shifted back in North’s favor. Her serving helped push the lead to 17-10, and from there, North held strong to secure the 25-18 win and close out the match.

Keira Muliyil earned Player of the Game honors for her all-around play, particularly her passing and strong serving.

Player of the Week went to Madeline Koehler, who showed tremendous work ethic throughout the week and consistently put the team first.

Well done, C team, for a complete team effort—and congratulations to Keira and Madeline on their standout performances!
