The North Cougars kicked off the season with a bang, hosting their cross-town rivals, Coppell Middle School East. The crowd was buzzing with excitement, ready to cheer on their team. The A team took to the court first and wasted no time, dominating East in the first set with an impressive 25-6 victory. But East wasn’t ready to back down, making the second set a thrilling back-and-forth battle. With North leading 20-15, Harper Johnson stepped up and delivered five straight serves to seal the win. Brylee Felix shined from the end line, scoring 13 total points and earning Player of the Game honors! Emy Anene also had a standout performance, contributing 6 points and playing strong at the front row.

The B teams took the court next, and North was ready for a battle! Both teams fought fiercely, trading points in a tight contest, but East edged out a 25-21 victory in the first set. Determined to bring home a win, North put up another thrilling fight in the second set, but despite their efforts, East claimed the victory with a 25-22 score. Mila Obidzinski stood out with her impressive serves and sets, while Bryce Wilson delivered strong front row attacks and flawless passing. Player of the Game honors went to Ella Snow, who played all-around and showcased some of the best hits of the night! The North Cougars may have fallen short, but they displayed heart and determination on the court!
The C teams wrapped up the evening, and their energy was off the charts! Despite a strong effort, East took the first set with a 25-17 win. In the second set, the Cougars battled hard, but East managed to secure a 25-16 victory. Aliah Espinosa stood out with her excellent play as setter, delivering some incredible sets. Player of the Game went to Sterling Cook, who was unstoppable on the court, expertly passing every ball that came her way! Though North came up short, their fight and enthusiasm were unmatched!

What a night for North volleyball! All teams took the court ready to fight for all the wins they earned. The night started off with the B team lead by Abby Behr who had a whopping 22 serves for both games. Brinkley Robinson was right behind her with 11 serves causing East to get aced several times and shake the ball out of the court. Laurel Storey was a new addition to the team and as our libero truly shined. If you haven’t gotten to see Kate Kingsford get her block on it’s a fun thing to watch. This team did a great job of picking each other up when someone struggled for a bit and they did not let a few errors dictate how the game would end with scores of 25-18 and 25-10.

A team followed up with the same energy and determination. Taylor Mechsner and Emma Rose with a combined 19 points for game one and 9 points for the second game. Olly Anene had several impressive blocks and lit up the court with her energy. The whole team did a great job of being scrapy and coming back after some mishaps. Allison Lewis and her dominant performance in the back was incredibly fluid and they way she moved around the court with such finesse will always be worth mentioning. East could have come back with a vengeance but the A team ensured they never stood a chance winning both sets 25-6 and 25-20. What a way to pump the crowd up for the final match.

The C team also played their hearts out, taking their game to 3 sets and making East earn their win. We had several changes made since last week and last night was the first game to test our new rotations out. Aneesha Anand scored 13 points on serving alone and had countless hits and passes that also scored. Is there anything she can’t do? No, there is not. Reese Shortino certainly deserves a shout out as more of her hits counted for points or kept rallies going than any other time in the season. Shout out to Pamela Brown who had really key serves right off the bench and truly helped us stay in the game. While the C team did fall short they will certainly be back for redemption.
